The Power to Say “Yes!”

Dance of Life

My quote today is from Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“Sometimes we have the power to say ‘yes’ to life.  Then peace enters us and makes us whole.”

And how does one say “yes” to life I may ask?

To me, it means embracing the unknown with confidence, curiosity and wonderment.   It could mean going a new and different way to work; it could be taking a day trip to a place you have never been before.  Perhaps it is trying a new activity you think you may not like.  It could be something simple like buying your coffee from a new place and eating lunch somewhere else.

Deepak Chopra sums it up nicely, he writes, “When you feel a new impulse, an uplifting thought, an insight that you have never acted upon before, embrace the unknown, cherish it as the newborn babyGod lives in the unknown, and when you can embrace it fully, you are home free!”

Are you a creature of the unknown or a creature of habit?

Are You at an Impasse?

Commuters

My quote today is from Ralph Waldo Emerson..

“Don’t go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

This seems a different take on Scott M Peck’s quote about taking the “path less travelled” and one we have probably all read many times.

The question remains, do we forge a new path and risk failure or tread after the herd and step in what they leave behind?

Come Said the Muse…

Late May 008

My quote today is from the amazing and unforgettable Walt Whitman:

“Come said the muse,

Sing me a song no poet yet has chanted,

Sing me the universal.

In this broad earth of ours,

Amid the measureless grossness and the slag,

Enclosed and safe within its central heart,

Nestles the seed perfection.”

I read into this that among all the technology, chatter, traffic, images, disturbances and fragmentation of everyday life there lies within us the seed of perfection.  This eternal flame is enclosed and safe within our hearts. You are perfect as you are and everything you aspire to be you are already, yet you do not realize it.
