One Line Drawings

These one line drawings are so much fun and they only take a couple of minutes.

The idea is to leave your pencil on the paper at all times roaming in and out of the subject. Don’t stress about being accurate, just let go and describe the different angles and curves in an arbitrary and spontaneous way.  This is somewhat similar to gesture drawing, the only difference being that the drawings are done in one continuous line.

Remember, this is not an outline drawing.  People, pets, plants or furniture all make good scribbly one line drawings.

This type of drawing is great for warming up before drawing from the model.

    • I am great Patsy, thank you Sorry I haven’t posted for so long. I had a goal to post once a week but my university work has taken all my time..and then some. Soon the semester will be over. I am taking an intensive in the holidays as an intern helping mature aged people get back into education. I am so looking forward to it. I hope you are well too. 🙂

      • I totally understand being that busy with your university work! I took art in college several years back and just one class about killed me! 😉 The intern job sounds great! I am sure you will do well.
I am good. This Saturday I will be having a booth at an art sale in town to try and sell some of my work! I have a lot more acrylic paintings than watercolors, and all my 5×7 cards that I’m going to try and sell. I just did a big remake of my seal painting in acrylics yesterday. But I think I just want to take today off! 🙂 Take care.
